Fermenter

Fermenter (sister restaurant to Farm Spirit) is a Portland eatery that takes local sourcing, organic ingredients and creative, plant-based dishes to the next level. They are passionate about crafting delicious, seasonally inspired meals and take-home fermented goods. They inspire people to eat and make their own fermented foods through educational classes and resources.

Fermenter came to State of Sage with rooted values in community, social equity and food integrity. They were ready for a rebrand that would communicate these values and share their goods with a broader community.

The brand was inspired by the existing care that is built into the small details of the restaurant. Locally sourced pottery, repurposed lumber and Portland craftsmanship adorning the walls and window sills. Aaron, owner of Fermenter, wanted to capture the timeless craft through a minimal, clever and slightly alchemical visual aesthetic.

We created a timeless brand that honors the craft and magic of the fermentation process. Then the brand was put to use through a simple but strategic website, a packaging family, menus, signage and digital communication.
